Using the standard Intechra approach, the personal computers,
servers, and workstations that pass testing immediately
have their hard drives cleansed of corporate data and
software through our customized CleanIT process.
The CleanIT process includes these steps:
- A drive wipe program is initiated by communicating
with the hard drive through the BIOS
- All drive partitions are removed
- The drive is overwritten with 1s, 0s, and a random
character (3-pass process)
- The drive is repartitioned
- The new partitions are formatted
- The hard drive is left with a boot prompt
- A log file is created and a 100% audit is performed
for all sanitized drives
The Intechra CleanIT process is DOD 5220.22-M compliant.
We verify the process using a number of methods:
- An Intechra production employee audits 100% of every
memory storage device we data wipe.
- 20% of what we data wipe goes on to an internal QC
auditor independent of the production area.
- One of our largest OEM customers audits us monthly
unannounced, and selects approximately 50 drives at
random to audit.
- An independent audit firm comes to our processing
facilities every other month on 24 hours’ notice
and selects 50 units at random to audit.
- Every quarter, we send an unidentified internal Intechra
asset through our CleanIT process. This asset is then
sent to a data recovery company to determine whether
any data is recoverable.
Our third-party auditors have never uncovered a failure,
and the outside data recovery company has never found
any recoverable data on a unit that has gone through
the CleanIT process.

Intechra provides clients with detailed reporting for
each pickup (manifest) we process. Available reports
may include the following:
- Receipt reporting
- Inventory and/or settlement reporting
Intechra pioneered serialized reporting and therefore
provides the most complete serialized reporting available
in the industry. Reports are updated monthly, and are
available in a variety of formats, including Access and
Excel. The disposition reports list each asset by serial
number, manufacturer, model, CPU speed, memory, hard
drive size, and asset tag (if any), along with its final
disposition. Based upon your requirements, Intechra can
also provide custom uploads to a variety of IT asset
management systems.

Intechra offers our clients the flexibility of choosing
which plan best suits their needs for IT asset disposition:
- A Consignment program, in which assets are consigned
to Intechra and the majority of the sales proceeds
are returned to the client, or
- A Matrix program, in which a set value for each asset
is returned to the client.
For both programs, clients pay a set asset-processing
fee, which is offset in whole or in part by the residual
value of the assets. In all cases, Intechra pricing includes
all administrative costs, full ITAD recycling services
and settlement reporting, plus indemnification against
any downstream privacy or recycling liability.
Many Intechra clients pay for a significant portion
of their IT asset disposition program through the sales
proceeds generated from assets sold to employees or the
general public. These clients understand that investing
in Intechra services contributes to their organization’s
bottom line reduces TCO.
